Portrait Session Locations in New Jersey

August 18, 2022

Even though I’ve moved out of Jersey to the Tampa Bay area (the west coast of the east coast! ), I still plan to come back to NJ to photograph clients once or twice a year. At least, for as long as my friends and family still live there 😉

I often get asked about location options for Portrait Sessions and figured it’d be the perfect opportunity to create this post with some of my favorites.

South Mountain Reservation – South Orange, NJ

Perfect for the adventure/outdoorsy type. There are lots of trails and opportunity for exploration with beautiful trees and serene vibes. It’s truly beautiful all year round, but once the leaves fall, it is quite bare.

Taylor Park & Downtown Millburn, NJ

Just a great, family-friendly park right in Downtown Millburn which is perfect for two scenarios in one convenient location. (and great during all seasons!)

NJ Botanical Garden – Ringwood, NJ

Expansive grounds and beautiful greenery. I do believe there is a parking fee from Memorial Day to Labor Day. A bit of a drive from Union County but a definitely a top contender for “extra special” photos.

Verona Park – Verona, NJ

Parking can be tough on a busy day, but this is another great family-friendly park. There are lots of cute sections to explore and enjoy.

At homeall over NJ lol

The best part of at home sessions is you don’t even have to leave the house if you don’t want to 😉

This is obviously a small list and there are so many beautiful places for a NJ portrait session. These are just a few of the places that I’ve enjoyed photographing at. I’ll be exploring Tampa Bay soon with the purpose of scoping out some portrait session location options, so if you’re in the Tampa Bay area (or visiting!) look out for that in the near future 😉

MORE NJ LOCATION OPTIONS

  • Any downtown area (for example: Montclair has a parking deck that doubles as a great starting shoot location and Westfield has a ton of yummy food options and cute streets to explore)
  • Hoboken for a downtown with city views, parks, and cute alleys (here’s a fun engagement session I’ve photographed there)
  • Watchung Reservation
  • Mountain Park (Basking Ridge)
  • truly the options are endless!

If you love what you see here and want to book a portrait session with me, you can see more info here and inquire here. I’ll always share my NJ trip dates in advance with my mailing list, so if you’ like to be one of the first to know, sign up here to stay up to date (just scroll to the bottom, please, because I haven’t figured out how to make it it’s own page yet).

What about you? Do you have a favorite portrait session location? Let me know in the comments <3
