We’re going on an adventure! Our biggest one yet…
I don’t remember exactly when we had the idea, or when we really started making plans, but it’s been something we have talked about for a pretty long time.
And now it’s official!
* I’ll preface by saying that I’ll definitely be in NJ for my current 2019 Fabiane Photography clients, however…
In just a few days, we will be leaving NJ with no concrete plans to return. Ah! Feels so weird writing this down. We’ll be back for a few weddings I’ll be photographing as well as some family events, but we don’t intend on coming back to live as we have for most our lives (all of mine, 98% of his).
We don’t have a final destination planned and we don’t know how long we will be traveling for. What we do know is that we are taking a step in some direction and getting on a plane to South America. Our first destination: Nova Resende, MG, Brazil.
If you’ve followed the blog for a long time (during the blogspot days!) you’ll know that I actually started blogging after visiting my great grandma’s house in Nova Resende. She’s no longer with us, but it seems fitting to begin our adventure there. Emerson has always wanted to visit the small little town my grandma grew up in and, God willing, in one week, that’s where we will be. The initial part of our trip will be spent with my mom and brother and then my father will join us for Christmas and New Years.
From Nova Resende, we’ll visit some family nearby and then head to my parents’ hometown, Rio de Janeiro. I get giddy just thinking about Rio. After the New Year, though, my family will head back to the states and we’ll stay a tad bit longer in Brazil. I mean, that’s the plan for now but things can change, who knows! We have a bunch of places that we want to visit but we’ll be coming up with the logistics as we go. We’ll keep you updated with our destinations. So far, a few of the ones on our list are Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Costa Rica, South Africa, Greece, Italy, Portugal, New Zealand, and Australia. This does not necessarily mean we’ll visit every single place or only the places on this list — just some ideas for now.
It’s all very crazy and scary and exciting. The truth is, as much as I love to travel, I’m very much a homebody. The idea of not having a home to call our own for a (little? long?) while gets me really nervous, but I’m working on facing more fears. The other truth is, Emerson is home to me. Is that cheesy? Yeah, a little bit, but that’s okay. It’s true.
So, what can you expect from us?
As far as Fabiane Photography goes, I’m still very much happily in business and so very grateful for all past, current, and future clients. I’ll still be shooting weddings and portrait sessions, but I won’t be in the tri-state area very often. That being said, if you’re looking to book with me, just fill out the contact form and let me know 😉 We’ll be back in the area for a bit in March.
When it comes to blogging, the plan is to have a lot more of it! We’ll be sharing our travels here on the blog as well as on Instagram. The idea is to document our adventure but also share anything helpful that we may find.
For now, we’ll leave it at that. Stay tuned for more 🙂
xx
